Just a couple of photos for the blog following the marathon in Amsterdam.

Firstly, the reason for our success as a group in running marathons is probably down to the trust and confidence that we have in each other. The only way to build such confidence is to be very close... and here's the proof :

 First of all a bed big enough to sleep 6 in guaranteeing an excellent night's sleep in (or not as the case may be!)

Secondly, plenty of food and beer to build up the complex sugars necessary to run a good marathon























Finally, the event itself and looking easy (and lonely!) at the 30km mark.

Just a couple of photos taken at the races recently in Orgerus.

First one, a photo of the team from St Germain with Mustapha (1st), Anis (4th), Ilyes, Eric, Nico and me last of the 6th but in 18th position. The standard is definitely increasing within the club !

Saturday - 14km race

This is the start of the 14km race. Notice the patches of blue sky and sunshine.

Photo taken in the second half of the course and Gérald is just out of shot working his way back up to us.

Photo taken about 400m from the finish and I'm chasing down a guy about 20m in front. Fastest sprint finish ever from me.

Sunday - 58km race

Blue skies have completely disappeared and we're sheltering under the refreshment tent before the start. Photographer is standing outside in the rain hence the raindrops visible in the shot.

This photo is taken on the ridge before the first feeding station at about 16km. Already feeling tired and wet.

Conditions have worsened here for the photo of Laurence and the weather is wetter than ever. She's still looking fresh though.

    Photo towards the end of the race at 53.5km. Just looking to end the agony now.

A few photos taken during the race on Friday night.

I look far too relaxed and definitely not determined enough so I'll need to correct this in the next races !! Laurence is more concentrated. Nice photo of some of the runners from the club at the end of the race during the prize-giving ceremony.

Finally, during the match on Saturday night there was a lovely quote behind the bar: "Imogen Thomas has taken up singing. She's started her tour by doing Giggs in Manchester"
